78th Annual Boston Public Schools STEM fair
March 2 @ 8:00 am - 3:00 pm
On March 1st & 2nd, 2024, Boston Public Schools will hold the 78th Annual Boston Public Schools/Massachusetts State Region VI Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM) Fair. This event is co-sponsored by Northeastern University. This year’s event will be held at Roxbury Community College’s Reggie Lewis Track and Athletic Center on Tremont Street.
The STEM Fair provides an opportunity for our community, especially our students, to celebrate STEM education and put their STEM skills into practice by testing hypotheses, designing experiments, and engaging in critical thinking activities.
You can learn more about key instructions, applications, and forms necessary to participate in the STEM Fair by visiting www.scifair.com. You can also find key information on the Boston/Region VI STEM FAIR site. If your school plans to participate and send students to the Boston STEM fair, you must complete this short Google Form.
Boston/Region VI STEM Fair Registration Information
Every participating student must complete the registration process and adhere to all the listed requirements and specifications of the Massachusetts State Science and Engineering Fair. Rules, regulations and forms can be downloaded from the MSSEF site. In addition, check out these resources:
Middle and high school students register on zFAIRS only if they are nominated by their school to participate in the Boston/Region VI STEM Fair. Students should refer to the appropriate manual (see above links) to determine if they need preapproval to conduct their project, regardless of regional fair participation status.
All students should submit forms and plans to zFAIRS as soon as possible so they are approved before experimentation begins, especially if the project requires several months of work. All paperwork approval comes directly from the State SRC for all of the Regional Fairs (including BPS).
BPS has committed to previewing your paperwork BEFORE submission to the state.
Due to the size of this event and the serious nature of qualifying requirements, we ask teachers to help students complete all forms accurately and before all deadlines. See the chart below for deadlines.
Please see the following table with dates, deadlines, and locations. All inquiries regarding this memo should be directed to the Boston/Region VI STEM Fair committee at Region6STEMfair@bostonpublicschools.org.
We cannot wait to see everyone at the 2023-2024 Boston STEM Fair!
