Elements of Effective Partnerships

Strategic Alignment

School vision, goals and priorities drive the selection and formation of partnerships. School uses a comprehensive needs assessment of the school community to align partnerships with the needs and interests of the school community. School and partners regularly review, reassess and adjust programming to ensure alignment with school goals and needs.

Shared Accountability

School and Partners jointly establish shared goals, clear expectations, roles and responsibilities and other key conditions for partnership success. School and partners share ownership for successes and challenges, make joint-decisions and collaboratively engage in troubleshooting.

Results Driven

Partnerships have clear measurable outcomes, and regularly assess and share progress towards stated outcomes. Partnership makes data-driven decisions for adjusting implementation strategies and programming to improve impact and increase growth.

Effective Communication

There are formal systems and structures in place for regular communication between partners, school staff, students and families; school and partners provide ongoing feedback to one another about the partnership strengths and areas for improvement; communication is authentic, transparent and proactive. When necessary, schools and partners engage in difficult, constructive and solutions-focused conversations.

Coordinated Services

School and partners regularly collaborate to coordinate use of site facilities, scheduling and resources. School and partners implement a coordinated participant recruitment, referral and enrollment process to ensure services for the highest need participants. School and partners are aware of and provide information and referrals to families and youth on other partners that can provide services or resources outside the scope of their programs.
